Alright everybody, I’ve got some updates for you!
I know I’ve been a bit silent in the last couple of months, posting mostly on my FB page with updates here and there. I wanted to give everyone an update on my personal status, the status of the website, etc. It feels like it’s been long enough.
So, as most of you know, last year on 10/10/15, I got married. My new wife and I took a great honeymoon trip through Europe, visiting Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. After we got back, I returned to my day job and took it easy for a while, doing a few site updates here and there as time allowed.
On 12/31/15, my company said that it was downsizing and let go a half-dozen of the staff. I, unfortunately, was one of those let go. As far as I can tell, there wasn’t much I could have done to change that: the others and I were part of the older crew and the business model was going in a different direction. I don’t harbor my old job any ill will. That said, it still left me in kind of a pickle. We had spent a lot of money on our honeymoon and some of the wedding and had to come up with a new plan two months into our marriage. Additionally, we were also hit with a few nasty medical bills whose timing could have been... better? :)
We’re doing fine. Just going to say that right off the bat, everything’s okay. I’m getting unemployment pay, Kat is still working, and I’ve been studying more in my new free time so I can look into getting some certifications.
What does this all mean for the site? Nothing. This is what I want to reassure everyone on: the site is not going away. Far from it. The patrons I have with Patreon, combined with individual donations and ad revenue, are enough to keep the site running. In truth, upgrading the site’s infrastructure isn’t far off. I have absolutely no reason to shelve the site in order to save money, and don’t ever plan on doing so.
. Jesse’s been spending a lot of his free time and knowledge on improving some of the features that have been requested for a long time. The first one you should already see live: a handy little "Theme" toggle in the upper-right corner of the page. This will finally allow anyone to set the site to whatever preference they want: white font on black background, or black font on white background. In addition, he also adjusted the main menu to scroll with the page, making it a bit easier to navigate elsewhere no matter where you’re at.
So, that’s about it. I hope that sheds a bit of light on why I’ve been so quiet recently, but I want to stress again that there’s no reason to fear for the Archives. Even in quiet times I am often at work updating books on the back-end, jotting down updates until I can make a massive announcement. Jesse has other great ideas for the site as well that we hope to implement in the coming future (potentially including a new slimmed-down menu for those who are short on width space...).
To all of you who use the Archives of Nethys and continue to do so, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Working on this site gives me immense joy and I can’t ever imagine stopping it. Being able to help the players and the Pathfinder Society means the world to me. Thank you all so much.
Until next time!
Your Humble Deity,
Blake "Nethys" Davis
To those involved with my "Acolytes of Nethys" project, you have not been forgotten! Once things are a bit less chaotic, I hope to return to you helpful people. :)

- A new toggle has been added in the top-right corner, allowing all users to switch between a black font/white background color scheme or a white font/black background.
- The main Nethys menu should now scroll with the screen.
: For any issues with the above features, please try clearing your cache/refreshing the window a few times. We had a few strange errors when the new code was first launched, but all of them seem to resolve with time. If you do have an issue that does not seem to be resolving, please
with the details of your system, browser, and the issue you're seeing. I'll do my best to resolve it.
We are aware of a bug with the background not extending fully in the Sources area when viewing a list of Sources in each Product Line; that should be fixed sometime this week.

New material has been added to the Archives! I know it’s been a while: wedding, holiday, all that jazz. With these updates, I should be mostly caught up on books (only 1-2 weeks behind). E-mails I definitely need to clear out, but don’t let my silence discourage you from e-mailing me if you spot errors/problems, or just have general requests. I do keep a fairly orderly queue of mail and flag every single one that I don’t respond to. If you’ve emailed me and don’t have a response, odds are it’s on my list and you’ll see one soon (I hope).

Due to popular demand, and a more visible presence of requirement in PFS, I’ve added functionality to display deity-owned subdomains across the board. While I still haven’t finished entering the data for all deities, you should see a substantial number of them with the functionality in place (core gods, archdevils, demons, empyreal lords, some others). This is most visible on the individual deity pages, but will also be reflected in the Subdomain listings themselves. I hope to have this fully complete over the weekend.

Hi everyone! I wanted to give everyone an update on where the site currently is at, along with why you aren’t going to hear from me in the coming weeks: I’m getting married! Specifically, I’m getting married *tomorrow* as I write this, which is harder for me to fathom than an Asmodean paladin.
Anyways, I am going to be gone on my honeymoon and won’t be back until the tail end of October. We have a whirlwind tour ahead of us in Germany, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands! That said, I couldn’t forget about you guys! I’ve been busting my buns for the last few weeks both with wedding prep and getting the site back up to date. I am happy to say that, with the exception of two things, I am now back up to date with the rest of the Pathfinder world!
Here’s what’s been added since my last update:
[Adventure Path] Pathfinder #95: Anvil of Fire
[Adventure Path] Pathfinder #96: Shadow of the Storm Tyrant
[Adventure Path] Pathfinder #97: In Hell’s Bright Shadow
[Adventure Path] Hell’s Rebels Player’s Guide
[Campaign Setting] Hell Unleashed
[Campaign Setting] Occult Bestiary
[Module] We Be Goblins Free!
[Player Companion] Monster Summoner’s Handbook
Here’s the couple things still on my backlog:
[Errata] Ultimate Combat
[Player Companion] Dirty Tactics Toolbox
And here’s what’s coming up after I get back and catch up on the two things above!
[Adventure Path] Pathfinder #98: Turn of the Torrent
[Campaign Setting] Inner Sea Races
[Player Companion] Heroes of the Streets
Thanks to everyone for the continued support. It means so much to me to hear feedback from you guys on the site and more. Rest easy faithful users, the Archives will be back to updating soon enough! :)

I decided to change how I go about with the Acolyte project (see my news below). Instead of a group on Facebook, I will now be using a private forum for the discussion. As such, access to Facebook is no longer a requirement if you want to help out. Read through the news entry below if you’re interested and email me for more details.

Hey everyone! Almost done with the Monster Summoner’s Handbook as I write this, but I wanted to go over a topic that I’ve had a *lot* of asks on; that being, how can you help?
For a while now I’ve pushed this question off, as helping was a rather complicated situation. I do most of my work by using a text-parsing app I wrote to translate the text of a book into a SQL query and shoving it into a database. I didn’t have an easy way to allow others to help with that, beyond opening up my database to people I don’t really know (something I’m averse to doing).
However, I recently have wanted to add or change a few things on the site, but it would mean going back through a ton of books to find where certain material was printed so I could make sure to catalogue it. I realized that this was the perfect thing I could use help on.
So, here’s the deal: I am going to create a new
group called "Acolytes of Nethys". I can’t promise that I’ll update this anytime SOON, I do have a wedding in... 17 days o.o . Once that’s all done with, I will likely start updating the group any time I can think of something to add that requires a lot of research.
If you’d like to volunteer to help, here’s what you need to do. I do have some requirements:
1. Volunteers should be 21 or older. An arbitrary preference maybe, but one I’m more comfortable having.
2. Volunteers should have access to a wide array of books, beyond the ones printed on the PRD.
- Actual books/PDFs here, I don’t consider you to have access if you get the data off my site or the d20pfsrd (or similar resources).
3. Volunteers should have enough free time to help out. This one is more on you guys. If you don’t think you would have the time for 4-7 hours a week, then probably opt out of this one.
If you meet the above requirements and are interested in helping me out, then send me an email to
(problem with my host, new email account not working, use my main one instead).
Make sure you tell me what your Facebook name is, along with any other information you want to pass along.
As always, if there ever is a point where you feel like you can’t contribute anymore, membership is optional. This is strictly voluntary.
Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks to all the suggestions for help, we’ll see where this goes. :)
